The SE Ranking Report for the 2022 Season
Southeastern Conference coaches have been hard at work crafting a perfect backdrop for the 2022 season and getting ready for another run to the second round of the tournament. The conference has been working closely with media and TV partners to develop a fresh look, feel and presentation while still including some collegiate feel. Cultivating a sense of urgency will be central to achieving that end result. But how? And what can we expect this coming season? Let’s take a look at what came first: the question or the data.
The Southeastern Conference has been strong this season, but what will its ranking look like?
The SEC is the A-list for all things college, and that’s not even getting into the fact that the conference is in its 15th season. Since the SEC started competing in 1993, it has gone 11 seasons without finishing lower than third in the polls. 2017 and 2019: SEC landfalls 2016 & 2018: No SEC teams in the top 10 2015: No SEC teams in the top 10 2014: No SEC teams in the top 10 2013: No SEC teams in the top 10 2012: No SEC teams in the top 10 2011: No SEC teams in the top 10 2010: No SEC teams in the top 10 2009: No SEC teams in the top 10 2008: No SEC teams in the top 10 2007: No SEC teams in the top 10 2006: No SEC teams in the top 10 2005: No SEC teams in the top 10 2004: No SEC teams in the top 10 2003: No SEC teams in the top 10 2002: No SEC teams in the top 10 2001: No SEC teams in the top 10 2000: No SEC teams in the top 10 Kappa Kappa Gamma Phi Fraternity, Inc. The SEC is top-10 again in 2022
There are a few features that will make the 2022 SEC Championship Game unique, and they will bring the conference twofold: first, there will be a return trip to SEC Media Days for the first time since LSU beat South Carolina in the SEC championship game in 2011. And second, the SEC will be doing everything it can to align its teams with the current schedule — both for the year and in the scheduling process. The SEC will play 21 games this season, and SEC Media Days will return for the 21st time. That’s a record for the conference, and it will be the most recent time the SEC has been in the top 10.

Confidence is at an all-time high
Confidence was at an all-time high in the SEC this season, thanks in large part to three SEC teams winning the national championship. The SEC was one of the better teams in college football when it came to team confidence. SEC coaches traveled to California to watch Stanford play USC and they had high praise for the Cardinal, who the SEC also ranked second in the nation in total defense. That top-10 ranking is nothing compared to what the SEC has accomplished this season. The conference finished with an 11-1 record, including wins in the Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, and Sugar All-Star games.
